Recently, users entered the app and automatically logged out. When they try to access their account, they can’t even do it with the right passwords. Instead of being directed to the “For You” page, users receive a “login expired” error, which locks them out of the app.
Unfortunately there is nothing to be done to fix this problem as it just means that the app is having connection issues. This often happens with social media apps and the only thing you have to do is wait for the servers to come back up.
You can also check websites like Down Detector to see if there are any reported problems with the app.
Does “login expired” mean my account has been deleted?
Many users think that the login expired message means that there is something wrong with their account or that TikTok has deleted the account completely.
However, this is not the case. While TikTok has deleted accounts on the fly before, if you have no reason to believe your account has been deleted, there’s probably only a problem with the app.
If there is no known issue with the app, your account may have been deleted. Normally, TikTok only deletes accounts that violate their terms of service. Unless you’ve had repeated issues with your videos violating the Terms of Service and then having them removed, there could be another issue at hand.

In February 2019, TikTok deleted a number of accounts on the app. Of the deleted accounts, all were users whose entered birthdays made them younger than 13, in violation of the company’s compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
However, those who were of legal age but provided an incorrect date of birth when creating their account were also deleted, causing some outrage.
In response, TikTok said you could report an issue directly in the app, and by submitting a photo of a government ID you could reactivate your account.
“We’re hearing some people are having trouble accessing TikTok today,” the company tweeted at the time. “If you entered the wrong date of birth, go to the ‘Report a problem’ section of the app and confirm that you are at least 13 years of age by submitting a copy of your government issued ID.”
If you’re still having trouble accessing your account and believe it’s been wrongly terminated, we recommend simply reporting an issue directly through the app, as that’s the only way you might get a straight answer.
