So if you don’t have some of the features we’ve listed, don’t worry – they’re coming your way! Or better yet, subscribe to our newsletter and we’ll bring all new Instagram updates straight to your inbox:
There are three options:
You can upload your ID
Social Vouching – Instagram will suggest you 6 people who are common followers who are 18 years or older and meet a number of other criteria and you can choose 3 people. Then Instagram will ask them to verify your age on your behalf.
Face-based age prediction that Instagram partners with Yoti for – you’re asked to send a short video selfie, and Instagram then sends that image to its partner Yoti. You will use this selfie to predict your age. There’s no facial recognition, so there’s no way of knowing your identity. This photo is only used to predict your age. Yoti sends this photo back to Instagram and then deletes it. This is how Instagram protects people’s privacy.
Updates to Instagram captions for Reels
Automatically generated subtitles on reels
When you upload an Instagram role, auto-generated captions are automatically enabled. With this feature, Instagram makes the process of captioning content more seamless for creators and makes Instagram more accessible to members of the deaf and hard of hearing communities, as well as people who consume videos without sound.
How does it work?
Automatic subtitles are automatically activated when uploading an IG video. To turn off audio subtitles, tap “Advanced settings” in the upload flow and turn off “Subtitles” by clicking the switch. This will automatically turn off subtitles for all your videos going forward. When watching a video, you can tap the overflow menu and select “Manage Subtitles” to access a toggle for turning subtitles on and off.
