Restart phone and router
A good start to fix Instagram issues is to restart your device. Often this simple solution is enough to put things back in order.
Also, make sure you have a stable internet connection. If you are using Instagram over WiFi, also reboot the router.
- Is Instagram down?
Next you need to check if Instagram is down for everyone. A telltale sign that servers are down is if you get a “5xx” error or your Instagram feed won’t load.
You can use a third party status checker like Down Detector, Is It Down Right Now? or Use Outage Report. Enter the Instagram URL and you will be informed if Instagram is down with messages like “Possible problems with Instagram” or “Problems with Instagram”.
Other places to check are Instagram’s Twitter handle for company posts and updates, or search for Instagram on Twitter.
When Instagram experiences global outages, there’s not much you can do other than wait for the team to fix the site.
Update Instagram
If the above solutions haven’t worked so far, it could be that you haven’t updated the Instagram app to the latest version on your device. In addition to new functions, newer versions usually also contain security patches and bug fixes.
To update the Instagram app on Android, open the Google Play Store and search for Instagram. If you see an update button next to Instagram, tap on it. Check out other methods to update apps on Android.
Run in safe mode
If your Instagram keeps stopping or crashing, try starting your phone in safe mode. If you can use the app in safe mode with no issues, the problem is with a third-party app, but if the Instagram app keeps crashing even in safe mode, third-party apps are not the problem. To enter Safe Mode, do the following:
Hold down the power button.
Press and hold the power button.
Tap Restart in Safe Mode.
Your phone will restart in safe mode. To exit safe mode, all you have to do is restart your phone. It will restart in normal mode.

Check the phone storage
Phone storage can be low and this could be the reason why your Instagram is crashing. Go to phone storage and free up space. You can clear the cache of all your apps. You can move files to an SD card; You can delete unnecessary files.
Try signing in with a different account
If your Instagram app keeps crashing, you can try logging in with a different account to make sure the problem isn’t with your account.
Factory reset the phone
The last option you should choose is factory reset. But before you take this step, you should know that all your files and documents will be deleted. You cannot restore them after the reset. Any third-party app will also be deleted. So, that means you need to download another Instagram app after factory reset.
Follow these steps to perform a factory reset:
Go to settings.
Then to the system.
Then go to the reset options.
Select Factory data reset.
You will get a prompt telling you everything will be erased and if you want to continue.
Tap on “Erase everything”.
Note: A factory reset can take some time, so it’s a good idea to have enough battery juice (or have your phone plugged in) during the process.
